Large Load Tariff Tracker
New  July 23 2025    |    Total  35 Tariffs   39M Customers Served

Large load tariffs are specialized electricity rate structures designed for customers whose power demand is significantly higher than typical residential, commercial, or small industrial users. These tariffs are used to allocate costs more equitably based on usage, ensure grid stability, and manage the financial risks associated with serving very large, often system-altering, loads—such as data centers, industrial facilities, or other hyperscale users.

Common thresholds for categorizing "large load" customers vary by jurisdiction but typically range from 1 MW to 100 MW or higher. Halcyon’s Large Load Tariff Library allows users to rapidly understand the varied landscape across key dimensions.

Data Methodology

Halcyon’s Large Load Tariff Library allows users to rapidly understand the varied landscape across Utility Data (42 data points), Numeric Data (6 Related Tariff details), and Market Context (A deeper exploration of 14 legislative drivers of the tariff proposals). A detailed list of data items below.

The tracker will be updated on a monthly basis to incorporate new tariffs and back fill those at other entities (large municipalities, cooperatives, federal power authorities) as information is available. Quarterly refreshes will update the full dataset.
